Vitamin D - The Sunshine Vitamin

In Ireland between April and September each year we have access to free Vitamin D from the Sun, at other times of the year the sun is not high enough for the UVB Rays to enable the reaction needed in our skin to create this wonderful hormone with all it’s health giving benefits. In recent years because of the increase in skin cancers we have covered our skin in UV protective sunscreens unfortunately this has had the negative effect of preventing many from getting their adequate amounts of Vitamin D. You need only 10 mins of direct sunlight without sunscreen on face, arms and legs to get what you need, then you pop on a your screen weather that be clothes and hat or a lotion.
